US President Joe Biden has confirmed that 11 US citizens were killed in the Hamas attack in Israel. At the same time, he said that there are US citizens among those held by Hamas.
In a statement sent from the White House on Monday local time, he said, "Sadly, we now know that 11 Americans are among the dead." Many of whom were making a second home in Israel.
In the statement, he said, apart from the 11 dead, many others are still unaccounted for. He expressed his conviction that the security of American citizens, whether at home or abroad, is my highest priority as president.
"We're still working on it, to be sure how many people are in custody," Biden said. However, it is fairly safe to say that Americans are among the prisoners held by Hamas.
